A Day in My Video Editing Process – Decathlon Training Day 2025
Every video editing project comes with its own challenges. For this event – Decathlon Training Day 2025 the biggest challenge was that I had no script to work with. Here’s how I structured my editing process to craft an engaging final output:
🔹 Step 1: Footage Review & Selection
I started by reviewing all the raw footage in DaVinci Resolve, identifying high-quality moments and refining an hour-long selection. However, the client’s expectation was a concise 5-minute video.
🔹 Step 2: Storyline & Rough Cut
With no predefined script, I built a narrative in my own style, segregating the best footage and assembling a 15-minute rough cut.
🔹 Step 3: Final Editing & Refinements
While refining the rough cut, I focused on sound design (SFX), drone shots, and seamless transitions. This helped me create a polished 7-minute version structured in two segments, using match cuts, precise SFX, and music synchronization to enhance the storytelling.
🔹 Step 4: Delivering Multiple Versions
To meet different content needs, I produced:
✅ 5-minute full event video (includes testimonials + montages)
✅ 2-minute highlights version
✅ 1-minute teaser cut
From 50 minutes of raw footage to multiple engaging versions, this project was all about finding the story within the visuals. Every edit is a journey, and this one was no exception! 🚀🎬
